Seismic Behavior of Stone Pagoda Structure by Shaking Table Test

In general, the stone pagoda structures with discontinuous surfaces are vulnerable to lateral forces and severely damaged by earthquakes. After Gyeongju earthquake in 2016 Pohang 2017, numerous were due slippage, rotation, separation of stacked stone. To evaluate seismic resistance masonry structures, we analyzed behavior using shaking table test. Shaking frequency, permanent displacement, maximum acceleration, rocking, sliding assessed. Responses simulations Bingol, Gyeongju, earthquakes based on Korean design standard (KDS 41 17 00) for return periods 1000 2400 years. We found that type stylobate affected structure. When stylobates stiff, energy was transferred from lower upper regions pagoda, which mainly resulted deformation region. weak, absorbed regions, associated large deformations. The part tower body because structural members slender. higher sliding, load contact area decreased height.
